Benefits of being the photographer

June 29, 2009

I did mention about the curse before this, however there are perks to being the designated photographer.

1. You get to snap photos of girls with no repercussion. Hey! You’re just doing your job (and avoid being branded as a “stalker”). Anyway they won’t even notice (optical zoom lenses rock!).

2. You get to “not participate” (which is good and bad at the same time – more good to me though) avoiding tedious work such as “exercise” and other tedious routines (yes, I am lazy)

3. You get a lot of attention after an event is over (might be a curse as well).. Hmmm… Cancel this… A lot of unwanted attention to me. I’ll replace this point with erm… You get to observe people’s behaviour. This may seem very trivial but actually you get to learn how a person’s true colours are by observing them from a certain distance.

4. Photographing is fun, a friend of mine who I recently wished him a happy belated birthday (ahem…) took over 3000 photos during a short camp. Doing something you like is considered a job? Wow… I’d like that.

5. You learn to be more creative. Despite what people might say, I find photographers as “Artists”. Historians with a tact for art. They capture moments, stories, emotions with a few adjustments and a single click. Photos can be artistic.

Well thats my personal opinion. I do have experience being a designated photographer. Too bad it was just a digicam and not a dslr, but that was years ago… Ah… The good times :D
