My Facebook

June 3, 2009

Once upon a time, long long ago…. I joined Friendster. I think that was way back during 2004-2005 while studying in Inti College. Friends were telling me about it and I found myself aboard in no time. I used to love Friendster, with it’s simple concept. Friendster had a feature called “testimonials”, which I carefully guarded. I would only make sure a proper testimonial would be accepted and meaningless testimonials were rejected. Testimonials are meant to tell people about how others view who you are.

Good Testimonial Examples :

- This SP is a crazy guy who always laughs and chases girls like crazy

- Met this person in college, he lent me a pen. I don’t know him more than that

Bad Testimonial Examples:

- Hi there!

- Merry XMAS!!

Am I being over dramatic? Probably? I always thought testimonials were meant to mean something. Friendster proved that by later implementing “comments” which I approved everything that was commented as testimonials were placed at a different place. All my hardwork managing my testimonials crumbled away once Friendster decided to merge both testimonials and comments together. Friendster would later allow users to customize their profile pages, which were so ugly and horrendous yet 14 year old girls would love.

That was the end of Friendster for me.

Enter Facebook.

Why did I ever bother with Facebook? It’s more or less based on the same concept as Friendster. Well I did it because I kept getting invites from friends to join Facebook. Not because of the friends that I had using it. Merely to stop getting annoying invites from Facebook.

Up to now I have never actively added another person on Facebook. All the people on my friends list are people who added me and I merely accept their invite. Except of course See Leong who forced me to add him and managed to do so as he was sitting next to me at the time. I rarely if ever participate in Facebook games/apps.

aaaaaa2Jess Min made me break my clean record by forcing me to do her quiz… I made one of my own which is mindless. It’s more of a luck test. Hmmm… I should lower my standards…. However can get 60% and above on it will get a free milkshake on me! :D (no cheating)
